Established in 1986 by Mossimo Gianulli, the company started out as a board shorts brand, as its designer sold his brand to retailers along the South Californian coast.
In the late eighties/early nineties, Mossimo’s sales spread into the southeastern states when veteran sales rep Mark Andrews Rose persuaded the young company to give him the territory and a chance to expand their market.
